Couldn't agree more. Restarting again after 5 yrs in lease location. Tried to buy the location but would not sell it. Came time for lease renewal and rates increased 50% over previous terms. Walked away and now brewing in odd space just to keep product on the street while we build out new place we will own.
I’ve seen your situation happen many times unfortunately here in my area (middle TN). It’s my main reason why I am not entertaining leasing as an option. Real estate in my area is hot and pretty much at the end of leases the rent skyrockets or the building owner decides to just sell the building for millions and the businesses in it are S.O.L. I wish you luck in your new place! I’m still looking for a place to buy that I can afford…maybe one day the stars will align and it happens :-)
