Hello Tom,

Is it essential to have the chiller above the fermenters? I have the chiller you featured in your post and just read in your Operations Manual that it needs to be elevated. I’m in the process of setting this system up now and would really not like to have to raise the chiller above my 3bbl fermenters.

I had always heard by having it above your fermenter it was easier to got air bubbles out of the line, but you know me, give me a bone and I won’t let it go. That said, our big packaging brewery we had the glycol chiller was on the ground in another room next to the fermenters. I think you will be ok, just make sure you push out all the air bubbles when you fire up the system.

Thx. I have room but don’t want to deal with a stand/shelf for that chiller. It will be a couple more weeks before it’s all hooked up.
