I don’t know what it is like where you live, but here in Ridgway, CO it is almost impossible to get a professional plumber, electrician, or builder to come out and work on a project.
Mike Thomas, the brewer/owner at Colorado Boy in Montrose re-worked the glycol piping system there and added more valves so it would be easy to replace a solenoid valve in the future should one break. The picture above shows the piping without insulation. You can buy simple insulation at Home Depot.
I thought I would write about it but lo and behold, I already wrote about glycol systems over a year ago. I am re-posting the link to it here. It does such a good job of explaining how to do this yourself and save buckets of money (we are talking 7 BBL systems here), that I couldn’t think of anything to add to it. I would however love to hear how you did yours.

My first glycol chiller was done that way. I like that the motor only runs when glycol is needed. Saves power and motors & pumps too.
